Regenerative Medicine & Clinical Research

Dr. Amirdelfan has firsthand experience in research that has advanced regenerative medicine for spinal conditions. He was first author of a 36-month, multicenter, placebo-controlled trial evaluating allogeneic mesenchymal precursor cells for chronic low back pain associated with degenerative disc disease, published in The Spine Journal. The study is now cited throughout leading systematic reviews examining stem cells for spinal regeneration, and Dr. Amirdelfan’s work helped establish the clinical evidence base for today’s regenerative therapies.

His research involvement in regenerative therapies dates back to clinical trials investigating mesenchymal precursor cells for lumbar disc degeneration and mesenchymal stem cells for osteoarthritis. His work extends beyond stem cells into next-generation orthobiologics and peptide science, including his contribution to a 2026 peer-reviewed analysis of BPC-157 and its role in tissue repair and pain modulation.

This research background gives clients at Source Healthcare in Coral Gables access to a physician who understands advanced therapies not simply from their clinical application, but through years of involvement in studying their safety, effectiveness, and potential uses.

Research, Publications, & Professional Leadership

Dr. Amirdelfan has contributed extensively to the scientific literature on pain management, spinal cord stimulation, regenerative medicine, and emerging treatment technologies. His research includes studies of high-frequency spinal cord stimulation, closed-loop stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, sacroiliac joint fusion, discogenic pain, and biologic approaches to degenerative disc disease. His academic work also includes textbook chapters on neuromodulation, high-frequency stimulation, and implantable pain therapies.

In addition to clinical and research work, Dr. Amirdelfan is a founding member, Executive Board member, and Vice President of Clinical Affairs for the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience. He is also a founder and Executive Board member of the Pacific Spine & Pain Society. His leadership, research, and continued involvement with emerging technologies reflect a career dedicated to advancing how physicians understand and treat chronic pain.

At Source Healthcare’s Coral Gables office, Dr. Amirdelfan draws on this extensive experience to provide personalized care. Patients benefit not from secondhand knowledge of regenerative therapies, but from the direct experience of a physician who has helped design, conduct, and publish studies that continue to define what is possible in stem cell therapy, regenerative medicine, and peptide-based care.
