About Dr. Fung
Background & Experience
Dr. Fung began his professional education at the University of California, Berkley, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry. After graduation, Dr. Fung enrolled at the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he completed his Doctor of Medicine in just four years.
Following graduation, Dr. Fung returned to California to complete his general surgery internship at the University of California San Diego. He then enrolled in a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, serving at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center. At the end of his residency, Dr. Fung started a fellowship at the Keck School of Medicine of USC focusing on pain medicine.
Professional Accomplishments
Professionally, Dr. Fung is a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
When Dr. Fung isn’t spending time with patients or augmenting his professional skills, he participates in endurance sports. Dr. Fung is a competitive age-group endurance athlete who competes in multiple Ironman and half-Ironman triathlon races, marathons, and open water swimming events every year.
In fact, Dr. Fung finished the Boston Marathon. He also completed the “Triple Crown” of world marathon swimming–He swam the English channel in Europe, the Catalina Channel in California, and finished the 28.5-mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim.
