What Is Stem Cell Therapy?

Stem cells are the body's foundational cells ? capable of developing into the specialized cell types needed to support healing in bone, cartilage, tendon, and disc tissue. In regenerative orthopedic treatment, physicians introduce stem cells near a site of injury or degeneration, such as a joint, tendon, or intervertebral disc, to support the body's own repair process.

At our Coral Gables clinic, stem cell therapy is offered as part of a broader regenerative medicine program that also includes PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy and other minimally invasive orthopedic treatments, for patients with conditions such as disc degeneration, osteoarthritis, tendon injury, and chronic joint pain.

Note: Most stem cell?based orthopedic therapies, other than certain cord blood?derived treatments, have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA for safety or effectiveness. See the Florida-required patient notice below.
